Gamification 

The idea of gamification has been around for a long time. The term itself originated back in 2002, but only really started getting traction in 2008 from when interest has continued to grow.

What is Gamification?

Game designers use a whole range of different design tools and methodologies. Gamification is when you use some of these for something which is not a game. They can include:

    • Points and reward systems
    • Leaderboards
    • Achievements and Badges
    • Storytelling
    • Avatars
    • Virtual currencies, items and economies
    • Challenges, quests and missions
    • Competition, Collaboration and Community
    • Surprise and Delight
    • Performance Feedback
    • Nudges
    • Collectables 

New ideas and methodologies are developing all the time so this is not an exhaustive list.

You can apply Gamification in an almost unlimited number of ways and it can help solve any number of different business problems.
